The Public Works and Parks Department provides the physical facilities (infrastructure) and services that serves the public needs. The major infrastructure facilities and properties include 80 center-line miles of street, 110 miles of sidewalk, 160 vehicles, 408 city-owned street lights, 5,300 regulatory and street name signs, 19 parks, 129 boulevard strips, 16 play equipment areas, 14 ball diamonds, 12 soccer and football fields, one outdoor swimming pool, two ponds, one nine-hole golf course, a community center, a recreation facility, an indoor soccer field and approximately 35,000 City-owned trees.

​Many of the services that touch our residents everyday lives are managed under the Public Works and Parks Department umbrella. The department has 60 full-time and part-time employees and about 10 contracted laborer positions to assist with seasonal operations. All services and programs are provided utilizing an operational budget of about $10 million.

​Traditional city services such as snow and ice removal, street lighting, street maintenance, sanitation, recycling, construction management, engineering services, fleet maintenance, storm damage cleanup, public tree maintenance, City parks and Golf Course maintenance are provided under the auspices of the Public Works and Parks Department. In addition to these traditional services, the City operates one of the state's oldest running recycling programs.
