Welcome to the Senior Services Page!



The Senior Services Coordinator, Marcia Mermelstein, along with the Commission on Senior Issues, is available to work with University City residents, to share resources, and to develop creative and helpful ways to meet the needs of our rapidly aging population.  Your questions and ideas are welcome--contact Marcia Mermelstein at mmermelstein@ucitymo.org, or by Phone at 314-505-8563.  You can also send information via Fax to:  314-338-7904

U City residents are also invited and encouraged to attend the Commission meeting on the third Monday of each month at 6:00pm at the Heman Park Community Center located at 975 Pennsylvania.

Senior Assistance & Volunteer Work Days-Expanded!
The City is coordinating additional efforts around expanding the home improvement volunteer days and is seeking your assistance.  If you are a senior in need of help  or a resident willing to help with a project, contact Marcia Mermelstein at the number or email listed to the right.

Medicare Counseling: Every Tuesday, 1:00 – 3:30 p.m. at the U City Library - A free service for those new to Medicare or for those trying to sort out their many choices.  Margie Diekemper, RN, is a volunteer Certified Medicare Counselor for the state of Missouri, and she is not affiliated with any companies marketing or promoting Medicare products and services.
Call 314-727-3150 for library staff to assist in contacting Ms. Diekemper or call the toll-free Missouri CLAIM central number, 1-800-390-3330, and ask to be referred to her.
