Historic Preservation Commission

The Historic Preservation Commission reviews,

  1. Applications to designate historic landmarks, 
  2. Proposed changes within an historic district, 
  3. Applications for permission to demolish buildings within local historic districts
  4. Applications for conditional use permits for an historic landmark or within an historic district, and 
  5. To establish other rules and regulations consistent with the intent and purpose of the Historic Landmarks and Districts ordinance
The Historic Preservation Commission has jurisdiction over local historic districts and landmarks, not National districts or landmarks. 

The Commission is comprised of nine members appointed to three year terms. Members should have special interest, education and/or experience in historic preservation. Members must include at least two architects and one attorney and may not hold any other elected or appointed position in City government.

Meeting Frequency: Third Thursday of the month, at 6:30 pm
Location: Heman Park Community Center, 975 Pennsylvania Avenue. 

Check the University City calendar for notices of a meeting as some months the meetings are canceled due to a lack of business.
